XBox Modchip Install
Introduction
These are some photos taken from the Xecuter 2.3B Lite modchip install for xbox. With this chip installed and swapping out the
existing 8GB hard drive for one much larger (160GB in my case), you can create a nice home media center for your living
room. The modchip, along with Xbox Media Center, allows you to play all your mp3 music and view all your digital photos
from your xbox. You can also backup your existing games to the hard drive and play them without having to shuffle
discs, quite a nice convenience.
There are a number of torx screws you need to remove from the bottom of the xbox case. You will also need to pry up the rubber feet to get to some of the screws. Once the case is separated, remove the hard drive and DVD drive. Now you can remove the motherboard. You should be left with something like this image:

This is just a picture of the two separate case pieces of the Xbox.

This is a shot of the Xbox motherboard. The area we will be working in is on the right hand side of the board near the center. It is just to the left of the barcode sticker on the right hand side in this photo.

This is a closer shot of the area of the board we are interested in. We will be soldering the modchip pin header into the holes you see here.

This is a picture of the underside of the Xbox motherboard. We will be doing the soldering from this side.

This is the underside of the LPC port we saw earlier. Insert the modchip pin header from the top of the motherboard through the holes in the LPC port so it is sticking out through the holes displayed here. There is also a small solder point near this area called d0 which is a ground. The modchip has one wire that needs to be soldered to this point.

This is the same photo as the previous shot, but after the pin header and d0 points have been soldered. You can see the pin header is now soldered in the LPC port holes. I have put some black electrical tape over the d0 solder point to help protect it from getting disconnected.

Flip the motherboard back over and here is what things look like. The pin header is soldered in and ready for the modchip to be plugged onto it. All that is left to do is run the modchip switch mechanism to the front of the xbox and mount it. After that, you are ready to boot up and flash the modchip BIOS.
