PMT was a project at Dell I worked on for about a year and a half. The tool is used by the DellPlus
organization to track the sales process for large customers from initial contact through delivery. I functioned as the technical
team lead and site architect. I was also responsible for designing and implementing the look and feel
for the site.
This page shows a statistics summary for the site. This was necessary to determine how many projects were coming
through the site on a daily basis and for discovering usage trends in the data.
Starting page for the PMT web application. Since this is strictly an intranet application, user based authentication
based on the NT network name is used. The help box displayed on this screen uses dynamic HTML to display context
sensitive help.
The services page allows the user to select all the general options the customer requires for the project.
The data collected here will drive the technical specification (displayed later).
This is the account search screen. Since there can be many projects going on simultaneously for any given account,
the user needs a way to see all activity for a certain account.
These are the order entry instructions for the factory. When the machine is ready to be built in the factory,
the assembler will generate a printed version of these instructions and use them for assembly.
General customer contact information page which allows the user to create/update contact information.
This is the dynamically generated technical specification. This was probably the most difficult part of the entire
project. The tech spec is a series of multi-level questions stored in the database which have a hierarchy which
links parent and child questions many levels deep. If a certain question is answered with a specific answer,
the child questions linked to that answer must be completed as well. This functionality was enabled with a
circular link defined between the question and answer tables. Another challenge was creating an easy to use
admin tool for populating and updating the technical specification as well as making separate revisions available.
