The following images are from FlexCab, a category management program developed in
Visual Basic and Access. The client needed a way for a supermarket chain to be
able to examine their sales volumes on many different levels.
FlexCab takes all the product sales information
and breaks up the products into divisions and then into categories. These categories
are displayed with their respective statistics for the given sales period.
One feature the client needed was the ability to show this information in a
graphical format. FlexCab's graphs make it easier for the user to see
an enormous amount of data in an easy to understand view.
In addition to showing chain-wide information, FlexCab also can break up the
data on a store level. This enables the user to see how products are selling
in different stores in different locations. It also is a good way to measure
the success and marketing of individual stores compared to the chain's performance.
Nielsen data can be displayed for any product so the user can see how his stores are doing selling the product
compared to the rest of the nation.
Of course a supermaket chain can't carry every product that exists. But
wouldn't it be nice to see how much revenue you could expect if you decided
to carry a new product? FlexCab makes this possible by including Nielsen
data in its database. Based on the product's sales across the nation, FlexCab
can estimate what the sales would be for your chain if you carried the product.
The MDI interface of FlexCab allows the user to open multiple windows.
This allows them to look at graphs and spreadsheets for multiple stores at the
same time. FlexCab gives the user all the tools he will need to determine how
the chain and stores are performing.
This screen shows off some of the charting and graphing capabilities.
